Greetings.

Two new examples of tile sets have been added to the Tile Set Galleries section.

The 1st is an example of a type of set that has a very uncommon tile pattern. Sets of this type have a pattern of motifs that is different to those usually used for typical sets. This pattern can be found in two categories of tile set – the Himly/Glover category (Gallery 1.0) and the Wilkinson/Laufer category (Gallery 1.1, Bone and Bamboo). This new addition is Tile Set 81 and can be found in Gallery 1.0. It is an incomplete example (126 tiles) but is important nevertheless. The other example is the “Court officials Set” and is found in Gallery 1.1, Bone and Bamboo.

The 2nd addition is Tile Set 82 and is found in Gallery 2.0, Bone and Bamboo, Slide-top Boxes. This set is an example of a group that sport similar patterns and may be the product of one manufacturer or an engraving convention that uses the same motifs. However, this set has a set of four ‘Joker’ tiles that have a similar motif to ‘Joker’ tiles found in Tile Set 80 in the Attaché-style Cases of Gallery 2.0, Bone and Bamboo. Also, two of the Flowers tiles have a very finely engraved and coloured oxen and crab.
