This post introduces a type of tile set that came to prominence in the 1920s. The engravings on the tiles constitute an unusual Tile Set Pattern. This Pattern is seen in the two books published by Take Shobo Co., Ltd on behalf of the late Japanese Mahjong Museum. (For information on these books please turn to the Literature section.)

A partial tile set sporting this pattern was recently acquired and is featured in the Tile Set Galleries/Gallery 1.0/Tile Set 81. A complete example of this type of set will be appearing shortly in this Gallery.
