4/5/15
Greetings to returning visitors and welcome to new visitors to this site.
Two new additions can be found in the Category 2.0, Bone and Bamboo Gallery. These are tile sets 48 and 49. Both were derived from Japan and number 49 in particular has a certain feature that very likely is a good criterion for one style of Japanese set.
Further sets will be added to the galleries in due course.
At this time I have finished another major article detailing the advent of the Mah-Jongg Sales Companies of China, of San Francisco, of America and the Continental Mah-Jongg Sales Company.
It also charts the careers of three individuals and shows how they and their wives, by happenstance, met and eventually started the introduction of one very popular variety of ma qiao (sparrows) game to the West.
In particular, the article will show, in detail with dates and places, Joseph Babcock’s whereabouts in China and abroad from 1913 – 1924 and Norma Babcock’s whereabouts from 1915 – 1924.
Also featured are patents and trade marks for the Mah-Jongg Sales Companies products.
Titled “J. P. Babcock, A. R. Hager and A. N. Lethin and the Mah-Jongg Company of China et al.“, it will be published on this site this week.
